I copied a 500Gb vhd file containing an SQL server. The virtual
machine was shut down. I copied with windows explorer but it would
give me an error message and abort the copy. Then I tried to copy the
file with SyncToy. When synctoy completed the copy process both the
source and the target files were 0MB. The source VHD file will not
recover with undelete software. Any I deas on what I should do next.

Thanks Tacticon

500 GB? I didn't know you could create a virtual hard drive that large.

But I don't see what this really has to do with Virtual PC so not sure why
you're asking here. You might get better help from a Windows newsgroup or
forum. Incidentally, what was the error message you got when copying via
Explorer? Was the file still OK after that aborted?

In any case, if the .vhd file got hosed while copying it, there's likely not
much you can do after the fact.
